aksharaabhyaasa samskara.: – This samskaara is about making the child to read and write aksharas or letters for the first time. This is the most sublime samskaara which is needed for all the human beings. This samskaaraa is performed at the age when a child starts initial schooling. It shall be generally, between 4 to 6 years. It is indeed the righteous initiation of imparting knowledge to the child. Either guru of the family or parent hold the right hand of the child and write in the rice filled plate, “om na maha, shivaa yah, siddham namah” . Then the same will be written on the slate by father first and later by the child.
